DIY | Bird Feeders

Enjoy even more bird gazing with these cute DIY Bird Feeders! With only a few, simple supplies + steps required, you’ll be bird watching in no time!!

What you’ll need:

1 unflavored gelatin pack
1 c. bird seed
1/3 c. boiling water
Cookie cutter (optional – you can also use your hands to shape them into rounds)
Parchment or wax paper
Paper straw
Twine
Scissors

What you do:

Place cookie cutter on top of parchment or wax paper on a plate or other easily transportable hard surface (a small cookie sheet or cutting board would also work).

Boil water. While boiling, empty gelatin pack into mixing bowl. Once water is boiled, pour into gelatin bowl and mix until dissolved.

Add the bird seed to the gelatin water. Mix well. Using a wooden spoon or a spatula, pour birdseed mix into cookie cutter, gently pressing the mix as you go to mold it into the cookie cutter.

Once finished, use the paper straw to create a hole within the cookie cutter, but not too close to the edge. (We cut our straw in half, which made it easier to place).

Place in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours, depending on how large your cookie cutter is. Once set enough, gently remove the cookie cutter and straw from the bird feeder. Place the bird feeder on a cooling rack with the same piece of parchment/wax paper between the bird feeder and cooling rack to keep it from sticking. Let sit overnight.

The next day, use twine to string through the pre-set hole. Hang and enjoy!
