DIY Microwave Popcorn
Popcorn is one of the best go-to snacks for so many reasons! Smells amazing, fun to hear it pop, easy to top with whatever you’re in the mood for (anything from cayenne to chocolate!), and naturally healthy since it’s a whole grain! Did you know you can easily air-pop in the microwave? Not only does this make your popcorn experience much more customizable (i.e.: no nasty/strange butter stuff that you may not want!), but it’s also way more economical to buy a big bag of kernels + some large paper bags instead of pre-popped and packaged, or even ready-to-be-microwaved bags! Follow these easy instructions and start popping away!
What You Need:
toppings (optional, our favorites are):
salt & butter or olive oil plus –
cayenne + paprika
parmesan + garlic powder + onion powder
chocolate chips (melts a little if you stir in fresh popped corn and cover for a few)
nutritional yeast (for those who aren’t cheese fans)
What You’ll D0:
1. Measure & pour 1/3 c popping corn in a paper bag and make a small fold at the top, twice, in the same direction as the bottom fold (see image).
2. Place in microwave with the fold/bottom up. Pop for 3-4 mins, listening for 2 seconds between pops.
3. Pour into a bowl, top with your favorite toppings, & enjoy!
